You are right, no clue what I read there, mb.
After reading over all these replies again, I have come to the following conclusions, using a +200% xp scroll as an example:
What some have been saying: Base XP + 200% = 100XP + (200% of 100XP)= 300XP
What I am saying (200% of base XP) = (200% of 100XP) = 200XP
I think the confusion comes from the scroll description: combat experience +200%
Now you can look at this in 2 ways :
+200%, meaning plus 200%, an additional 200%
an increase of 200%.
There's no clarity on one or the other. + can mean "plus", or it can mean an "increase off".
I hope you know understand what I am saying when I doubt this base XP calculation because knowing PA's history with "translations" I bet they have it as "an increase off" and just call that +.
If you say that how do the 50% scrolls work or the 10% costume buff? Under your reasoning the fifty% scrolls would halve your xp gain and the 10% costume buff would only give you ten percent of your normal xp.
"an increase of 200%" IS +200%...
To clarify: lets take your example of Base= 100
An increase of 200% would be the following: 200% of 100 is 200; you have an increase of 200%, hence your outcome is 300 (100+200)
Your example of 100x2=200 would mean you get 200% of Base XP (thats an increse of 100%, the base 100 cant be considered "increse"), however when taking that guess and aply it to a +100% buff, your XP would remain the same. A 50% "Buff" would reduce your XP.
Aside from that, as far as I know it has been confirmed that every single XP buff in the game is additive.
That's how math works, right? Or do I have some linguistic misunderstanding?
BDO shiuld add some math riddles again into a myst of summer questchain, but a diff one for any user so all have to solve it by themselfes. They can additionally offer some math courses into the cash shop, ez moneyz...
Dis gonna be gud xD
Some buffs do not stack with others. So not every single XP buff has been confirmed to stack.
My theory is that anything below 100% works as additional, and anything above 100% works as an increase of 100%.
This thread is hilarious.
XP is integer X and as a percentage is 100%X = X(100/100) = 1X.
530% Additive XP is X + X(530/100) = 6.3X
50% Additive XP is X + X(50/100) = 1.5X
Lets call the additive XP variable Y.
X+X(Y/100) = String theory.
XP buffs that don't stack overwrite on the buff bar and some are hidden in gems etc.
You know, if you need string theory to understand how an XP buff works in a game, they likely need to make it easier.
Still dont think that the scroll works
I tested it on 20 Basilisks of the same type each giving me 0,036% xp with the regular buffs and no scroll popped. After popping my 530% xp buff i got ... ohh who would have known ... 0,036% xp ... so all the additive buff explanations are right and ok ... but this scroll buff doesnt get added to this additive stack - at least for me at basilisks.
I can confirm that the 530% scrolls are not working.
A few weeks ago I've used one to farm Polly Forest in addition to the normal XP buffs I use.
I'm level 61 currently.
A normal hour of grinding yields me around 0.5% experience from combat only.
Another hour of grinding, using the same boosters, but with an 530% scroll popped yields me the same 0.5% experience within one hour.
This means that the 530% scrolls are broken, and need to be fixed.
Worked for me just fine yeaterday.
Maybe it's a stacking issue with some other buffs.
Which other buffs did you pop?
For me, I had popped:
- 15% experience elixir
- 20% combat exp from cron meal
- 100% exp from GM's blessing
- 100% exp from an exp scroll (the scroll that says it doesn't stack with combat book buffs)
- 200% exp from daily exp grind
Both grinding rounds were on daytime, and no bells were popped on the server.
Hm, perhaps the new xp boost event interferes with the scrolls? They worked fine when i used em around shais (huehue) release
20 % from crystals
200 % daily
100 % book of combat
Maybe a few % from pets.
20 % from black spirit.
I thought you can't use scrolls together with book of combat?
You cant use the 100 % scrolls with book. 530 % scroll works with combat book.
Everyone knows the Devs cannot count, Just look at half the marked 50% off prices they have sometimes in cash shop when it's actually only 25% off! or when it comes to Paying Guild fund event where 3 bill turns into 300 mill! Also i am a firm believer that a 10 year old develops their code, but this may be RNG Tinfoil
You wish it was a 10y old human...
How much does it throw off the math if each level past 61 actually gives an exp %debuff, and mobs weren't worth a set amount of exp, but instead give a percentage toward your next level.
