Boss changes are bad and here's WHY: BDO NA and IHA EU response

    Everything in this document was ignored. Yell louder, make tickets. Fixed spawns are in, times are terrible. PvP lockout is in. Channel hop is disabled around bosses. Field bosses are random again.

    The linked google doc is a joint response to Kakao from BDO NA and IHA EU regarding the recent field boss changes.

    We compiled data from BDO NA and it proves at least 72% of all field bosses are killed before despawn timer is reached.

    The issues and feedback further expanded upon within the ‘Our Position’ sections are by no means comprehensive, but intended to highlight to PA/Kakao what we have identified as some of the main problems facing bossing.

    TL;DR
    • At least 72% of field bosses have full clears before 2 hours.
    • Revert field boss changes.
    • No fixed world boss spawns.
    • Random channels are confusing and complicated.
    • Forced despawns are unfair and unfun.
    • Change 15m world boss despawn.

    Edit: It should be noted that we are NOT arguing against fixed timers as a whole.
    We are against a fixed schedule, like KR has. We fully support finding a solution that would create fixed times between spawns, creating a rotating schedule of bosses throughout the week to enable everyone to attend.

    I'm still yet to see a satisfactory response (unless I alone missed the glaringly obvious two-page report nowhere to be found as to why these changes were necessary) from PA or Kakao as to why bosses being left to despawn are a bad thing. Same goes for boss trains. If bosses are left unkilled then look at why players aren't killing them. Provide incentives. Implementing a blanket reduction in the number of spawns is a weak, half-thought out, bandaid solution that doesn't solve the underlying issue of underwhelming and undesirable loot, nor does it benefit players who are gated by the lack of Tree or Bheg drops.

    This is the equivalent of treating the symptoms of an illness rather than the cause and calling it fixed. Now we've gone from hidden stats to hidden boss spawns with hidden justification. Great progress.

    I agree 100%. Boss hunting is very important to us and suggested changes would improve it a lot.

    Why would fixed boss spawn times on a rotating schedule be a bad thing? We already have a half implementation of fixed boss spawn and I don't generally here complaints about it. I think if you were to make the spawn time increment so the bosses rotated through time frames it would be fair. I don't understand why they didn't do that in their fixed boss spawn release in KR.

    The field boss change should be reverted. Fixed spawns are fine

    Agreed, especially because I'm in EU playing on NA server. Offin at 5am is bad as it is.

    The data looks solid. Whatever reasoning behind the changes PA/Kakao have made does not correlate with their message to the community. The changes don't create a fun environment. Seems like it needlessly complicates things.

    The only fixed boss spawns are currently weekly bosses. The rest are all based on respawn timers. See the response in the document as to why fixed spawns can't work on NA and EU (timezones! there are a lot! it would mean LESS players get chances to attend)

    Nerfing the spawn of bosses when we need more to kill? They only know how to make this game more boring.

    I suggest instead of 15 min despawn to make the bosses enrage mode (harder to kill, more ap, dp etc) after 15 mins of engaging them.
