the thread is about pvp ap dp cap
Well i thought it's mainly about to push overgeared players from low AP areas.
As far as I know, BDO is highly based on open world pvp. It's the reason the majority of players came to play the game in the 1st place... It's meant to be a dangerous place and you are supposed to be risking a confrontation with other "Adventurers" when you go out in the world to do anything. This really is a simple "git gud" situation that should encourage anyone being pissy over being killed by bigger boys/girls to get stronger. There should be no "safe space" for people to progress in this game besides life skilling and the fact this sjw culture is really trying to force its way into our games is really ruining the gaming world as it has the real world.
1) Restrictions in PvP games are generally detested by most players and takes away from their acheivments
2) You hardly get PK'd in BDO. I might get PK'd a couple times a month in any of the non end game grind spots. It's not a rampant problem. Unlike say ArchAge where you get PK'd any time you try to grind a zone that is hostile or in war state... like they go out of their way to farm you because every time they kill you they earn Honor... trust me you have it so easy it's not even funny.
3) You already have a built in mechanic to mitigate this. Simply change channels. I played BDO for 3 years and NEVER ONCE could not find a grind spot in the area I wanted to grind on SOME channel. Might take me a few tries but I always found one within 5 server changes.
The real solution here is being able to get end game gear within a sensible amount of time without having to pay to win AND having more end game content to actually do besides scheduled node wars and sieges. You know like real PvE content.
A lot of people are going back to archeage which is a MUCH more hardcore PvP MMO because of the recent changes in gearing up for end game. Now it takes 2.5-3 months to get end game viable gear (most get it in less) and because of that many people are coming back to the game.
But you want to talk about Griefing at grind spots. Last night me and a few other returning players were trying to do dailies and we got killed and camped by reds at our respawn. They outgeared us to the point we couldn't kill them but we didn't mind because we knew we'd be on their level within a few months (I could already damage them because I already have a near end game weapon but still wearing paper armor lol). Anyway we tried numerous tactics to beat theses guys but then it became a matter of "How do we get away from these guys!" lol. and we'd employ different strategies to try to escape. It actually became a fun game. Finally I ended up drawing them off and gliding away because I have a really fast glider. The reds followed me and I ended up weaving through cliffs and valleys and ended up back at a quest location and jumped through someone elses portal to somewhere on the other side of the world. Meanwhile my party members opened a portal while they were distracted and ported back to the other side of the quest area we were at. I met up with them shortly afterwards and we finished our quests for our gear dailies.
In the end it took a bit of creativity but we were able to Juke our assailants much to their chagrin. And the point of it all? IT WAS FUN! Because it's a PvP mmo.... BDO as much as people try to dress it up as something else is a PVP MMO. Why because there is no real PvE at all in the game. Every mechanics serves to get better gear so you can compete in PvP against other players. The sad part is BDO has almost no end game PvP to speak of and no good mechanics to support dynamic open world PvP.... in short besides it's graphics, combat system, afk mechanics and autopathing it's kind of a **** MMO.
TDLR; BDO has too many problems to fix. Its like dating a hot chick with no brains or personality. Play a real MMO like ArchAge because it's good again and no longer P2W.
No one with full PEN would bother farming Gahaz.
If I 1-2 skills manshaum on witch, why would I go Gahaz and make 1/2 the money? Lol
Not true, with the current broken AP scaling on Witch limiting their Awakening skills full PEN wouldn't be sufficient in many top end grind areas resulting in them hunting lower areas despite their gear score.
Witch is fine at Manshaum and Aakman, pretty crappy at Hystria though.
could be a nice idea if the classes wouldn't be so extremely different at lower AP. some are real noodles that need some decent AP to compete, some others can easily wreck with lower AP but don't scale as much later on.
and the cap mechanism in the game is also bypassed by numerous other "hidden" stats, which also makes no sense.
So Aakman isn't a high end grind spot? Really? You get to learn something new today I already wrote and am not changing to fit you.
I will say this again because it's obvious no one bothered to think about it. Witchard can grind Aakman. Why is that? They have large area's of damage that allow them to grind there. Hystria requires you essentially stack the mobs in one spot so classes that have small area's of damage it is easier to grind there. Those same classes that can grind hystria have issues with aakman as their skills will splash the mobs all over the place. To "buff" witchard to grind Hystria would be an uneven change to those that cannot grind aakman as a result. Taking maehwa as an example, it has a small cone attack range. To make it viable to even grind in aakman, you would have to change that small cone into the same area damage of witchard because of the splashing of mobs. That would make maehwa ridiculously OP. And for those saying knocking back mobs isn't a great thing, you forget if you are low on HP it's a better idea to do that than just dying. So in conclusion, if you buff witchard to be more efficient in Hystria then you have to make classes like maehwa/sorc/mystic have larger area's of dmg to be able to grind aakman as a tradeoff which would be foolish or you would have to change the area of damage of witchard to be much much smaller.
Please educate yourself on the issue so you have an understanding of what is actually happening
Read it this is just a quick Summary
pets have FIXED bonus and its less than 80 ap(that was renown value) after renown removal.
if u compare it to wildly rising ap bonuses from brackets its obvious they lose alot of power more gear u have as their bonus is FIXED while player originating dmg gets more bonuses from ap brackets.
It mainly only affected PvP. If you 2 skills a mobs pack at 253 (+69 AP) and 257 (+83), it's still 2 skills.
But yea, once they remove the pet cap, which I hope they do, I can kill people even faster lol.
Agree, I suggested zone PVP gear score scaling years ago, to prevent people like @2Cents to abuse their gs and abuse less geared players.
The cap you're pointing out only applies to PVE, not PVP, which is the main issue this topic is about.
Doesn't change his point though.
It used to be like that and it royally ****s classes that are already bottom tier grinders.
Oh please this entire game is designed around killing grey mobs. Your suggestion could never work without major change to the game, may as well go back and play WOW.
Why would I want the gear I worked so hard for matter a lot less...?
I'm sorry but honestly, suck it up. To say that the top 5% didn't have the same issues would be ignorant. The best solution would be more rewarding grind spots. Like Sycraia / Protty are coming soon, granted we will probably have more players return to the game to contest those spots, Nagas/Fogans/Gahaz will be more free.
It really isn't that bad.
Git gud. Git geared. Grind mirumok. Profit. That's just how the game works now. There will be obstacles, but if you're not okay with getting ganked in a open world pvp game, you shouldn't have started playing it.
And before anyone says I'm one of the 2 IQ gankers, I'll happily kill someone that strolls into my spot but I usually look for another server before I'll pvp someone for their spot. It's just a huge waste of time.
Yeah right, "worked hard" grinding brainless mobs and smashing that casino-button. Seriously, the top 3 most absurd statements on this forum are "working hard" (... playing video games, while in most cases being unemployed or never having had a real job), this being a "pvp game" (which it really isn't, there is close to zero direct pvp-related progression and the primary determining factor is pve gear) and players "voting with their wallets" (while in truth they would never have spent the money in the first place - cause of the lack of disposable income, see point 1).
Congratulations on mentioning two out of these three in a single post. Coming to think of it, if I would extend it to top 4, I would likely go with "getting good at playing BDO" (which is absurd, there is no getting good at a game that has zero skill-based content and where progression is primarily determined by rng). It's precisely because of simpletons like you that suggestions like the OPs would be beneficial to the game.
That's sad you can't accept a loss and have to hide behind the karma system in order to "win".
First of all, what is that low geared player doing on arsha? Got 30+ PvE channels to play...
Is it really tho?
