    Greetings adventurers,

We are aware that some of you may experience intermittent client crashing issues under certain circumstances - this is something that our teams are still investigating. In the meantime, please follow the steps below as a workaround:
    1. Download lightfx.dll from this link.
    2. Place the file in your C:\Windows\System32 folder.
Make sure you replace the existing file that is there (if there is one).

Please bear with us while continue to investigate this issue.

    Thank you.

    - BDO Team

How does this help players that are experiencing crashing but not using rgb lighting peripherals etc?

Lost internet last night after nodewars during my AFK fish and I login unable to talk to NPC's or do much of anything.

I applied this fix and at least I'm able to do stuff now.

    Still very laggy, however.

    -Edit
never mind, i'm still lagging out of the game I'm not even sure if my issue has to do with this.

It will not help you if your pc does not have rgb lighting peripherals.

Rather than replace the DLL, I'd suggest temporarily disabling Alienware FX.

    EDIT: This didn't work.

However, I still prefer not to download a DLL from a random site. So, I'm trying a copy of it from … C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\AlienFX SDK\Unmanaged\dll\x86. This is present on both my machines (desktop / laptop).

FYI - Turning off the LED effects in the game's settings has no effect. (I never had them turned on).

After much toiling, which included a system format with fresh windows, and re-installation of standard apps for my notebook, I am happy to say that replacing the lightfx.dll did the trick for me it seems. It has been almost 8 hours now without an incident.

    Thanks tech team <3

    You don't "open it"
You place it in the folder location C:\Windows\System32
    As instructed per the OP.
If it asks you to over-write then do so.

Solved the issue for me after Replacing the *LightFX.dll in system32 & 64 + PC restart* - not alienware spec but use Roccat FX hardware. Over 5 hours no issues.

Could be since Alienware and Roccat are compatible with each others and support Alienware FX even without having Alienware PC. Laptop did not have this issue with Nyth mouse tho nor did it have Softwares provided for its full FX functions tho.

Sadly this suggestion doesn´t help anything.
I did as OP said but the game just crashed/vanished after 15 minutes. The game is unplayable right now.
I don´t have Alienware PC or Roccat stuff like Mouse or Keyboard.
Hopefully there will be a solution ASAP.
Missing all the Events because of this.
