I think they are equally annoying AND game mechanics. Neither is worse than the other. That’s your opinion about the current system. I don’t think that the made up concept called Karmabombing is any more toxic than is ganking someone to make them leave. If you can’t out grind a lowbie, perhaps you don’t belong ng there.

So you can’t handle stronger players killing you but you think weaker players defending themselves is toxic? Lol

I made some edits to the first post to voice more of my opinions and in attempt to drive the discussion to a more specific direction.

Remember, the discussion isn't just "is PKing good? Is Karma Bombing bad?" but rather something along the lines of "while thinking about morality and circumstance, in what situations do you think these things are acceptable in, if, at all?"

Whoever clears faster deserves any spot.

lets say in both cases we are on spot and grinding:
    1. griefs by grinding into your rotation and starts to pk you till he is red: he have to fear karma consequences and you are only powerless if you are to weak or didnt have any friends. but even strangers wont miss the opportunity to kill a red player...
    2. griefs by grinding into your rotation and if you try to defend starts karmabobmbing: he didnt have to fear anything while you are powerless to do anything.

there isnt really a question which is worse....

you dont have to "outgrind" anybody to destroy a rotation, the flexible spawn times alone makes it impossible to secure the whole rotation. other thing is that you have always small breaks: buffs, weight, sneeze, etc. which let a gruop appear before you are there, since the rotation is build around the optimal run.
(just as an info: i paused for nearly 2 months and was on olvia. lowbies leave in the same moment you pk them. and how should karma protect them, i could take 20 of them without fearing death. karma protects only griefer with gear)

Sure there's a question. Both are playing the game according to the TOS. One has a choice to flag or not. No one can force anyone to flag, and you can go to Arsha if you want to gank lowbies who bother you with zero karma losses. We gave you tough guys what you wanted with Arsha, why are you still crying about this? lol.

Not everything is optimal. Life isn't fair. If you can't maintain decent progress, you either have unrealistic goals or you are doing something wrong. I expand my grind area if someone interrupts me. I've never had to flag up. Playing the game isn't griefing, so I reject your label.

anything within the TOS is acceptable. The is no immorality playing the game as designed.

TOS are like real life laws. They don't cover everything, especially small things concerning courtesy and morality. Making and announcing new content but locking most of its availability behind paywalls is a business model, it's completely legal (by the country's TOS), but it's also "immoral" as it feels like a scam but technically it's not a scam, but just "world mechanics" aka, "just business."

I disagree. Objectionable discourtesies are governed by the tos. There is no scam in killing another player or refusing to leave an area where you were there first, bothering no one. The pk kiddies would like to call out the latter as immoral. It's not, sorry.

When you put a guild mission, in that case, time & number count.

Whoever grind that spot should leave or accept sharing the place & wait until the mission is complete. I almost felt bad for the karma bomber, when it happened when he started to kill everyone. Everyone understood we just had the screw up his rotation & get the job done by taking the whole spot so the mission can be completed.

Ok fine, the guild member get killed once... When it happen 4 times in a row & you see the number of mob done won't get in time by looking at the pace. Obviously everyone will get involved, because guild fund.

We all had fun in the end.

Are you just not able to discuss properly by ignoring nearly everything someone wrote and have to come up with more and more strawmans? people want to grind in peace and not to pvp. this constant chatter about "tough guys wants killing lowbies" is only annoying and just made up by people like you to invoke a victim status to justify their griefing behaviour.

sorry but this statements are just weak, even for you. btw. i already told you that i rarely flag, since it is pointless anyway. your only chance is to hope that he leave or end the grind for this day. the griefer always win in the current system. pk would be the only protection but is completly ineffective because of tears, next node spawns and especially karma, which protects no one but griefers
and for the last, im sorry for you, but labels are distributed for following the rules of the social etiquette, so it is not up to you to decide which is the label for you. and for knowingly annoying other people you have to expect bad labels. you know, life isn't fair....

If you get annoyed by others playing the game according to the rules it's your problem not mine. Defending oneself when getting attacked is not greifing in any rational universe, lol. If you really wanted to grind in peace and no pvp, you wouldn't flag up to remove someone from a location. I never interrupt others' rotations and mind my own business. Yet, when I refuse to leave when attacked for no reason, I am called a karmabomber. Too bad. I still won't leave, and no number of fabricated "rules," customs, social etiquette (LOL!), morality or other imaginary requirements can make me change my mind. Live and let live. You play your way, and I will play mine. No one owns any part of the map, no one is grieifing you. Go to arsha if you don't like the system. It's quite simple. Apparently pk does work in some cases because people still do it. Some people enjoy it. Arsha has players so it's not unheard of. You seem to want the place to yourself. Too bad. Go play a single player game then.

    Voted for "Might makes right".

The one's grinding at the spot owns the spot.
First to the spot? Cool, some other dude can still can come up and rekt you into another dimension and gets the spot. If you can't contest, you can keep trying killing the other player, but in the end, the one who wins the duel wins the spot.

BDO has an open world PvP system where anyone can flag up and mess around with other players. If it's ethical? Prolly not. Is it fair? Not really. But is it part of the game and allowed? 100% yes.

This is what I like about this game. It adds another dimension to the game that most MMOs don't have. PA should expand on this by adding new systems such as Escort and Security. An example of this is creating guilds or taverns where weaker players can go to hire higher geared players via down payment (+X% for the duration you intend to grind) to escort them and provide them with protection while they grind. The higher the GS or number of players you hire, the more you pay for the extra protection. This can also stem to things like life-skilling or even PvP.

Planning on taking a long trip across continent to deliver crates, but don't want to risk getting pk'd? Want to gather something in a high risk area? Someone out to bounty hunt you and want some protection? Own a node and don't want anyone else to take it? You get the idea. Of course, most of this is relatively safe or you're already at the point where you can defend yourself or your property, but the idea is there are now ways you can add extra security to high value targets.

This will add more ecology to the game and is always nice to have more options. This is also nice for players who have a high GS, bored and want to try something new while getting paid for it in the process.

Fine. come up and "rekt" me, whatever that is supposed mean. I won't ever leave and I will constantly attack you. I have 400+ elion's tears for that reason. You won't make any progress. I have yet to find someone who will wait me out.. I have no problem with either action.

Some streamers do bounties. You give them a name and a channel and they PK the guy for you, and you pay them in meals :3

I'll take you up on that challenge, I just love when someone thinks that continuously coming back makes you the victor in the end. At the end of the day the victor is not me, and not you by the route we chose but by the one who is willing to stay longer. How many hours do you normally last?

Are people still discussing who gets the spot, the pker or PKed?

PA already made a decision regarding that while toxic ,its fairly balanced according to the state of the game they created. Which states that it doesn't matter who has more or less gear who is more or less skilled Only matters who is more or less persistent.

They created a system where gear and level is ALMOST irrelevant as can be in spot competitions.

And honestly without fundemental changes to the way Pve and factions works in this game I don't see how they can change karma without it benefiting one side more than the other .
