This is mainly a rant, BUT GOD DAMN DO I LOVE BLOWING UP OGRE RINGS, LAYTENNS, AND ALL THE OTHER EXPENSIVE ACCESSORIES WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Like you know you can save up and should save up, but when you see that juicy 1bil+ in your bank and you got fs, you just gotta tap stuff yaknow. It be nice if yaknow, accessories dont blow up, but we all know that is never happening so WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I mean it sounds like you are basically trolling yourself at this point since you know it would be less stressful to save and buy yet still do it anyway. Sorry for your loss but you are doing it to yourself mate.
Expensive? It's like ~60 mil for us. I remember when that was actually the price to pre order a crescent meanwhile ogres been around ~180 mil and we made way less money back in the day. I understand your frustration, just failed a tet tungrad myself but I'd call it everything else than expensive nowadays.
You only lost 1bil+ you're fine still. Pray for those who lost 18 bil in and still don't have a tet through enhancement. Now that you know you can't handle it, save and buy.
1 bill?? what are you blowing? witch earrings? i spent 10 bill going for ogre TET and failed several times with 40% then i just resigned and bought it off the market, whats even the point of your post tho?
Save up and buy. This game is an impulse check. I wouldn’t say it’s good game design, but it does earn the company a lot of money if players don’t steadily progress for time spent gaming and instead buy pearl shop items to gamble with their RL money. (Or gamble with hours of their life) From a positive perspective, it’s teaching a lot of people when to take risks and when not to take risks. Growing pains, buddy. You’re going to learn a lot about yourself and your self control in BDO. Use it for self improvement
The entire enhancement system needs a rework or at least a trimming down of the crap that makes it worse...which, I know, will likely never happen, because Pearl Abyss is greedy. But whoever designed this system should've been fired or demoted to a position where they aren't allowed to make crap that contaminates most, if not all of the game.
I hate enhancing in general cause it's too much based on RNG. Give people the chance to upgrade their gear as a reward for their effort, not their "luck" (or money).
My favorite part is failing PRI 3 or 4 times in a row.... Or DUO 5-6 times in a row. It sure as **** doesnt go the other way with successes.
Would already be enough if you could go into an enhancement mode that allows you access to blackspirit, smith, church, market, etc. When building up stacks with reblath for example it would then also simultaneously buy new reblath and repair dura, once you reached 20(0). So you do not have to run between NPC's. When running out of dura on bossgear, it would then have a popup that directly feeds you mems and repairs, by buying out of the marketplace. And so on. Amazing how much you could improve the game by some simple ideas. Since currently the procedure to enhance to pen alone is so timeconsuming, that you could prolly farm half a pen in the time you just enhance running between npcs and characters(your own) in velia.
you cannot sell a solution if you dont first create a problem, its not bad design its simply working as intended.
Well, but as a player you see those flaws after 5minutes of testing. So why do you need to change char to have access to your other characters failstacks? Of course they want to incrase character slot sales so people can failstack better. But why do I need to change the char to use it? Why is a constant loading screen part of enhancing? Now you could say you can also buy scrolls from the blacksmith, but that only works till 50fs. It might also be a little money sink for people that do not want to switch chars and get rid of the load times. But even then you could implement another moneysink in a different way. The real pain of enhancing is enhancing itself, even if you had endless ressources it would be pain to do. The silver loss upon failure only adds a tiny bit on top of it.
well yes, but if its reking them tons of money i dont think they care tho exactly!, have you ever wondered why everything in the blacksmit has the "buy multiple units" button but the reblath doesnt? its all about making the process of enhancing as annoying, tedious, time consuming and frustrating as possible, because then weak willed people prefer to melt costumes and cron their attempts so they can skip all the artificially created inconveniences.
I knew a guy who was 1/24 tet ogre and he was buying Tri. This is exactly why having uncapped fails is so unnecessary. How is it a fair punishment to make someone put in 5x the market value of an item just because they wanted to gamble while most people average 3-6 attempts? I think enhancing is a terrible progression mechanic in general but if we had to keep it I wouldn't necessarily make it con free but I would put a guaranteed enhancement after X amount of fails which would be like 1.5x the market value.
That's the deal with gambling. When you win, it feels awesome. When you lose, it causes depression and frustration. As someone who us absolutely not a fan of RNG and rather relies on certainties, I can only recommend grinding money and buying the items you want straight from the Central Marketplace. That way, you get what you worked for, with a 100% chance. However, I am also reliant on people brave enough to gamble with RNGesus, so... keep it up, I guess? I need your TETs
The whole point of the system is to tempt you into making bad RNG casino choices so you'll then open your wallet to progress faster so you can continue to make more bad RNG casino choices. The game is built to exploit your inability to make rational long-term choices. That's what a casino is, and BDO is unabashedly a casino MMO.
The thing is, basically all mmos rely on rng. Be it upgrading/enhancing items or drops from monsters/dungeons/raids. RNG is a relevant feature in every mmo. The only difference between bdo and most other mmos is that the rng here is in your face and very punishing while in other games it is not as in your face and often is only pseudo-random, meaning it'll increase the chance to let's say get a dungeon drop the more you run it (similar to failstacks). I guess the biggest problem about bdos enhancing is not the failing in itself but the loss of progress that failure comes with. If there was no downgrading/breaking accessories and just lower chances, barely anyone would complain.
Right. If you run a WOW dungeon and you don't get the drop you wanted...well, at least you didn't lose anything. If WOW was like BDO, if you run a dungeon trying to get a new chest piece, and the boss mob doesn't drop it, it would downgrade your current chestpiece to junk and you then have to spend hours or days getting back to where you were before, so you can try it again, and get punished again if the RNG roll doesn't go your way. With the game offering you the option to get back to where you were 5x as fast if you shell out some RL cash. BDO is specifically set up to repeatedly kick you in the balls for trying to progress, in order to get you to shell out money for the pay2win ball bandages.
