it is 10 if you have some additional taunt pets, you can increase the number by 1 for each additional taunt pet.
If you're farming somewhere with thick mobs and you can get big kills, hit two separate mobs and pull them into a third unaggroed mob then unload aoe. As you melt the guys you can melt, the others will start to aggro and take dmg too.
So, theoretically, if I have 5 taunt pets I could pull 15? Also, do static mobs (think the tentacles in Stars End) count as 1 of the mobs you can pull? I am just trying to figure out why I cannot pull the full 10 mobs. I get 9 no matter what I do. I cannot aggro a 10th mob. I tried everything I can think of.
If you have a long enough DoT, you could pull 10, then if you kill mobs, the next mob will be auto aggro’s Cus the DoT is still doing dmg.
I think there is a cap on the number of mobs you can damage at one time. Not sure, but someone once said 7. I forgot the details.
As far as I am aware of, you can damage all mobs you attack as long as you knock them down. If they are on the ground they will not reset HP for the time. This requires you however to kill them before they stand up again and then reset their HP (every mob that was not in your actual 10 mob limit). You can see this at stars end with crystal knockdown.
I think the skill determines how many enemies that specific skill will hit. If you aggro 10 with the skill then run to another mob and do the same skill again, you won't aggro another 10 enemies. But at some point the amount of enemies you have attacking you will max out. Mine appears to be 9 at star's end. No matter what I do (no taunt pets) I can only get 9 mobs to attack me at one time. I can run into another mob and they will just stand there until one or more of the original mob dies, or resets and goes back to it's original area. I will look at the knocked down mobs to see if they take damage. I record everything, so it is kinda easy for me to see if they take damage or not. I am just wondering why there are so many different answers. Is this another of those variables that is class/account specific or do people just never really notice. I bring this up because in some instances it could possibly effect the loot per hour you get when grinding. A person that pulls 15 enemies at a time over 7 at a time is quite a bit of difference and would allow for a quicker rotation, thus allowing a bit larger rotation in the same time frame.
Nearby mobs will not attack you if already (10?) mobs attacking you. Those mobs suddenly notice you after the first attacking mobs die.
So I just made a little clip with some notes in it to show you its exactly as I already pointed out. https://streamable.com/0lnhmy
