    Greetings Adventurers,

Hello, this is Jae-Hee Kim, the Executive Producer of Black Desert Online.

Spring is finally upon us, and we hope to bring you fragrant news pleasing enough for all of our wonderful adventurers.

Following last week’s Dev Diary #2, we want to announce yet another change to some of the content in Black Desert Online.

    • Battle, Conquer, Claim Victory - Conquest/Node War Optimization

Conquest and Node War are some of the most exciting features of Black Desert Online. Fighting epic battles between rival Guilds for property, bragging rights and castles is probably the most loved feature for many adventurers. We do acknowledge that the increasing number of adventurers participating has resulted in increased data for our servers to process which ultimately led to lag issues, typically in Conquest Wars.

After in-depth monitoring, we have found unnecessary packets being used during Conquest Wars and we have minimized such packet usage with this week’s update. In addition, we have made further improvements to the servers to alleviate lag issues. We hope that this optimization work will also have an impact on areas where many adventurers gather all at once, such as areas with World Bosses spawns.

We are currently working on a new season of Conquest Wars, but through constant monitoring and optimizing efforts, we will ensure a smoother gameplay environment where all of our adventurers will continue to enjoy fierce battles.

    • “Diné... Finally?” Diné Update

While Diné is a magnificent Dream Horse, we’ve noticed over the past that many users prefer the utility of gliding with Arduanatt. For that reason, and to make choosing between your final Dream Horse more interesting, several improvements have been made to Diné.

If the Valencian desert is your main hunting ground or you ride Diné during Conquest or Node Wars, we’re almost certain that you’d like to hear that all skills of Diné will be accessible in the desert now.

    • "Why do we die in the village?" Good-bye to Negative Karma !

Negative Karma could originally be used as a perk for building failstacks and there are many players who purposely fail in enhancing Grunil, Zereth, or Reblath gear to build up on failstacks. It became apparent that many adventurers are seeing this almost as a requirement for Enhancement.

As you may know, degrading + 15 gear may require being repeatedly killed by a town guard, in order to build more failstacks on a +14 or lower item.

This ‘Negative Karma’ building is obviously very stressful and an unintended way for our adventurers to perform their Enhancement. Little did we know in early development that such an unexpected way would be chosen as a mundane way to practice Enhancement.

Though we were aware that many adventurers were using this method, it almost seems to have become a formula, creating an unpleasant and difficult entry for new adventurers to be introduced to.

With an upcoming patch, priests in each town, along with other NPCs who can cleanse Energy, will be able to cleanse gear infused with Black Spirit’s Energy. By this, we mean these NPCs will be able to degrade your +15 gear infused with Black Spirit’s Energy down to +14. This, however, will require some Silver Coins as payment.

    • “Where have I stored my Crystals?” Checking Storage of other towns

It’s no surprise when a new adventurer sends in a question that reads, “I’ve lost my item”. Even experienced adventurers may have been in a situation where you had to rummage through storage in many towns to find what you were looking for. Although there is an advantage of having Storages in each town, you’d need quite a good memory to remember what was stored where every time.

We will soon put in a mechanism to allow our adventurers to check all Storages in towns. When you access a Storage of any town, you will be able to see all other Storages on a separate menu, which will also enable you to transport items among Storages.

We always endeavor to provide optimized gaming environment for all of our adventurers.

Please allow us some time to process all of your input and feedback, and we’ll surely return with updates and fixes catering to all of our adventurers’ needs.

Thank you for your continuing support.

@CM Yukimura how will the "Checking Storage of other towns" work? will it open up all the storage windows from every storage or will there only be one other open that you have to select?

Glad to see that the devs finally do care about some of the main issues the playerbase is talking about.
    Looking forward for more.

    Thank you!

Will Vegeta Ever gain Ultra Instinct? Will Yamcha ever be stronger the Krillin? Will Lahn ever come to NA?

All these questions will be answered next time on Dragon Ball Z

"negative karma building" isnt stressful. The cancer gear casino as a whole is. ( well not stressful, just one of the biggest annoyance ever released in a video game )

And loosing 100k per downgrade, well, nope, thanks i will stick with my negative karma character

These all seem like positive changes. De-leveling gear is a nightmare. Hopefully it's an insignificant amount of silver, on the order of 10k.

I'll be genuinely impressed if the lag in siege/node wars was fixed on such a "short" notice. It only took years of complaining and Lacari to showcase how terrible end game PvP is in front of over 10,000 people on Twitch. Real talk, if there actually is a "siege monitoring team" they should be flat out fired on the spot.

I want to have faith in this company, I want a long lasting game to settle on, and I'm sure that myself and many others want this game to be the best it can be. But the lack of transparency and communication on many of the larger issues in the game (enchanting, class balancing) just pains and tires me. At this point BDO is like a giant waiting room - many of us are still playing because there's nothing better, but the moment a new game with a better (not cutthroat) business model, decent combat, viable/in depth group content comes out. You can be sure that there's gunna be a mass exodus.

Dont think your definition of "tons of silver" would go along with mine.

I dunno, I can see a dedicated and competent siege monitoring team sitting there with their heads in their hands, reams of data showing server performance, while one guy copies and pastes the same recommendation email: "Still garbage, start over" which he sends to the server admin team who, as usual, shrug and say they don't have any more budget.
