    Ok now i know we have to ask before we do anything. Harsh but as with law seems fair. So i will ask as well before i end up in troubles

    I enjoy nearly everything that this game has to offer with exception of grinding. I realize grinding is one of core mechanic of this game.
    Is not spending most of the time grinding against the ToS?

    So! BDO, thankyou for working hard on a game I do enjoy and look forward to playing, most of the time I do feel listened to by your CM Team and my emails are promptly replied to. However I do have one or two problems related to this current issue. So... BDO Terms and Conditions part 8...

    Except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law, and only to the extent that Kakao Games Europe is not permitted by such applicable law to exclude or limit the following rights, the User may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover or modify in any way the underlying source code of Game or of any part of it. In addition, the User may not (i) reproduce Game Client except for the back-up purpose provided under Article 8.1

    (People if we like it or not Bloo agreed to this when he ticked the box, which was a choice, all of ours and nope we don't often tend to read them which is why I popping them up for all to see.)

    The User is not allowed to create or prepare any derivative work based on the Game unless such derivative work falls under the definition of “User Content” provided in Article 1. (Definitions) of the Agreement.

    The User is not allowed to create or provide any software which would provide an unfair advantage in the Game to its end-users and/or third parties. In order to maintain the balance of the Game, Kakao Games Europe is solely entitled to decide what should be considered as an “unfair advantage”.

    Based on its severity, the violation of the service policies as provided in Article 12.1 may result in, but not limited to, one of the following:

    - A temporary impossibility to post message on the relevant Service;

    - The renaming of the name violating the naming policy

    - a warning;

    - a temporary ban forbidding the User to use the relevant Service;

    - a temporary ban forbidding the User to post messages on the Forums and to access the Game;

    - a permanent ban forbidding the User to use the relevant Service;

    - a permanent ban forbidding the User to post messages on the Forums and to access the Game;

    - a permanent ban on the Account forbidding the User to use the Account to access the Services;

    - the termination of the Agreement for cause.

    Kakao Games Europe shall ensure the proportionality of the sanction(s) in relation to the severity of the violation. Kakao Games Europe will not become liable for any costs, losses or damage made or suffered by User due to Kakao Games Europe imposing (a) sanction(s) on User.

    (I personally think the punishment is harsh and the option is there to do a monthly ban. With BladeBoques, sorry Kako Games but...)

    ''Kakao Games Europe shall ensure the proportionality of the sanction(s) in relation to the severity of the violation.''

    (BladeBoques ban was overturned so you did not ensure the proportionality of the sanction, so I see no reason why you can't overturn this ban with Bloo and give Bloo one more chance.

    As BladeBoques reproduced an exploit and only got a 72 hour ban even though it was openly evident on his stream for the world to see...)

    12.1.4. Use of Exploits

    The User shall immediately report any process or action(s) which, when performed in the Game, allow the User to play the Game in a way it was not intended to be played by game design (hereinafter, an “Exploit”).

    The User shall never attempt to reproduce an Exploit, except for the purpose of providing the reproduction steps to customer support of Kakao Games Europe.

    Any benefit acquired from the direct or indirect action of Exploiting shall be reversed if deemed necessary by Kakao Games Europe.

    (Not to mention, the whole Kimochi episode, the game received many complaints about Kimochi's abusive language, yet his punishment was turned into some farce of a PR stunt and we as a community felt we were not listened to over this matter. A ban from simply one server would of been acceptable to all yet it was made more public and he got merely a slap on the wrist. However I am aware this person might of been banned since then.)

    12.1.2. Naming policy

    The User shall not use on the Website, the Forums and in the Game character names, family names, guild names, clan names and/or nicknames that are:

    - Vulgar, abusive, hateful, racist, defamatory, threatening, pornographic or sexually orientated;

    - Referring to inappropriate parts of the human body or bodily functions;

    - Referring to drugs or illegal activities;

    - Related to the Nazi regime;

    - Referring to religious figures or religious organizations;

    - Related to political regimes or personalities involved or suspected of violation of human rights;

    - Promoting violence, ethnical, racial or national hatred, hatred regarding sexual orientation;

    - Impersonating an existing person;

    - Violating the intellectual or industrial rights of a third party, including trademarks.

    The use of alternate spelling, for instance by replacing letter with number, in order to violate the above mentioned rules shall be considered a violation of the naming policy as meant in Article 12.1.2.

    Are you guys for real? Ban a guy who actually contributed in bringing the community together - which you guys do a shitty job as NA/EU distributor anyways - while ignoring countless others who have damaged the game? The files he released became part of public domain and there was no ill-intent in looking inside of them nor were there any exploits or tools developed from the datamine to hurt the game. Rather, he encouraged discussions and confirmed/denied the tests/speculations the community made over the years.

    If you guys didn't want the players to know whatever was concealed, you and the incompetent Pearl Abyss should've taken better measures to encrypt the files properly and avoid stupidity. Which brings up another underlying concern. WTF is wrong with you guys (Kakao AND trash Pearl Abyss collectively)?

    It's clear you guys want to set a dangerous precedent and it really shows the backwards philosophy you guys have as publisher/developer:

    - hide information from players
    - interpret the wording of your own ToS depending on the circumstances, i.e. ignore blatant but popular exploiters, yet ban someone who allegedly "hurt" the game
    - design the entire game around the concept of gambling and program the mechanics around it to exploit players into throwing more money
    - ignore fixing/testing trash game engine; lazy devs' incompetence in understanding how network functions how that impacts server stability/desync, yet they're blatantly proud of how they threw up the engine for $1 million (nice Vell release in Korea where servers were blowing up for nearly a week, still have desync there too).
    - discourage sharing of information

    TL;DR The publisher and developer are scums. #FREEBLOO

    Bloo has not broken the Terms of Service, all he did was use a PAZ file browser to view the files. PAZ files are just a form of compression like .7z or .zip and does not require decryption, decompiling or reverse engineering to reveal. Many games out there do not encrypt there data files (binaries are a different story) and only use there own in-house method of compression and for BDO that is PAZ.

    Looking at a section of Kakao's Terms of Service; section 8.2, License Restrctions:

    The User may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover or modify in any way the underlying source code of Game or of any part of it.

    1. Bloo did not reverse engineer
    2. Bloo did not decompile
    3. Bloo did not disassemble
    4. Bloo did not attempt to discover or modify source code
    Since all the above conditions have not been met, the phrase or of any part of it is void.

    Bloo simply used a compressed file viewer to browse through the data packs which is commonly done in many games (to make mods and edit textures). The source code is hidden in the binary and uses .bss and .luac file extensions which are complex to decompile (no one has accomplished this yet). These files contain the API calls that the game uses and would be of concern to the developer if they were revealed to the general public.

    The data sheets that were revealed to the community were unpacked by either Pearl Abyss or Kakao themselves as they are the only one's with the tools capable of viewing these files. It was Kakao that made the mistake of pushing the update to the public client along with these unpacked files embedded within them, unencrypted and unprotected.

    Furthermore, Excel spreadsheets are the only items included in that unpacked folder directory. There is no source code or any game code included in that folder. There is no code related to the XIGNCODE anti-cheat as the code for that is in a different folder in the game directory. The code for XIGNCODE anti-cheat is also encrypted and compiled using a custom file format which would most likely lead to corruption upon decompiling.

    Lastly, these unpacked files exist on everyone's client in the NA/EU region. These unpacked files are easily accessible and do not require a complex tool or method. You do not need in depth knowledge in computing to access these files; anyone can do it. No reverse engineering, decompiling or disassembling required. None.

    This permanent ban issued was most likely pushed by Pearl Abyss to shift Kakao or Pearl Abyss' own mistake of including those files in the public client onto a player and to blame them for the leak. It is easier for them to not take responsibility for their own mistake and to simply ban an individual for it.

    Seems about right too bad they're hurting their own game by doing this. I for one was looking forward to 10 years of this game; I love it. Its going to suck if it dies. :( especially considering the time and money I've invested.

    This guy did nothing wrong. Viewing compresses files is done in practically every game. If bdo wasn't out to keep its player population blind, we wouldn't have to do this. It adds nothing to the game but frustration. Unban this guy and start being transparent.

    unfortunately if developers built a game around what everyone wanted the game would be trash. You are right in the fact they should listen to our suggestions but not all suggestions should be followed.

    you ban someone who looked at some files and decided to share the info...info that should have never been kept from the community in the first place. Hidden stats..wtf is that...stats should not be hidden.
    And yet all the fish bots and speed hackers run freely throughout the BDO world. Why? oh right they don't get banned and if by chance they do, it's not permanent anyway. I wonder where I could find a fish bot and speed hacker to report...I'll just stand in Heidel for a few minutes.

    Thxs for the information bloo. Now we can see truly how bad the itemization in this game is. Maybe now pa will make some changes. Bloo has had a positive influence on bdo and the community. Why don't you ban someone who actually causes harm to the game. PA and Kakao you guys are a joke.

    Time to wise up PA. The only reason we play your game is because the mmo market is garbage currently. Listen to the community. My guild is already looking into beta test the new project TL and cannot wait.

    Stay strong bloo your work will be put to good use. We will find a way to free hard working content providers like yourself.

    Even if you don't get unbanned remember that all great heroes are killed before their dreams are realized.

    Because of you we will probably get a Giath Helm buff and possibly a Nouver accuracy buff.

    Because of you we will never see the Heve Helmet set prices return to normal. Sausans farming will never be the same.

    From the heart of BDO NA, The #1 Siege Guild NA, Baka;

    Thank you bloo.
