People crying about RNG don't understand Organization of Programming Languages

    This is a good post you are absolutely right it would take hundreds of thousands of samples to get accurate percentages. I don't think you are seeing actual percentages in game because we don't have a large enough sample size

    you do realize that with every call of that method you are generating new sequence and spiting first numbers only ?
    you are supposed to go down one sequence otherwise you get completely biased bs...

    oh god ....

    people with minimal programming knowledge claiming that the native in-built random functions for these common used languages werent "good enough" because they have read an article about it sometime, somewhere.

    Those people are most likely all coming from web-design and low-level html/javascript coding, probably even without knowing that javascript is parsed and executed by the browsers (including its native random function). Which is absolutely not the same as native random methods of actual programming languages.

    I dare you to bring me proof of why seeding a native random function should give "more random" results than without, seriously you dont even know what seeding is meant for...

    To think that gaming companies don't use proprietary "randomization" shows your lack of experience in actual computer science outside of a classroom.

    I don't think it's fair to complain that a snippet doesn't compile, try find the errors in the actual code provided

    Errors? Like unused params? Static methods that doesn't appear to modify static members? Failing to seed? Using Java over Cpp? Not casting his return type to an int? (I don't do Java, quick glance at the docs suggest this could return a long or a float also)

    Didn't games mostly use scripting for things other than their engine/physics/etc ?

    I don't know, I've worked with a few games that were cpp through and through, with a little blueprint just for convenience.

    The problem is that they're using the random number generator from Applesoft BASIC...

    One also has to question the validity of wrapping a util and probably cleaner to use Math.random()
