    you never went grind normal mobs in hope of getting full drop item and if you got one as drop, were pretty much suprised that i didnt even know this can drop... much more better off crafting/obtaining from rb
    rng enchanting which was what 66% past +3/+4fullbody and funny was you would not really need overenchanted items for pve/pvp, +6 was pmuch goal as armors and super easy to achieve anyway
    brainless pve which required you 9man party, not only that constant party was actually super nice.. few guys losing focus your party wipes and loses few hours worth of exp
    tbh dont even know why is bdo marketed as MMO, cuz its simply solo player game if there was offline version of bdo you would simply not tell a difference

    Totally agree with you the major divergence from Lineage 2 and BDO seems to be the group play component which BDO sadly has almost none of. Beyond that the games have incredible similarities, I mean you can argue in BDO you dont actually need pen gear, in lineage 2 sure you might not need past +6 but beyond +6 was very much desirable like pen in BDO, but in l2 fail enchant fully destroyed item, not only that you needed to enchant new teirs of gear as you moved up. Anyrate They feel very similar beyond the grouping part but that said my points on RNG stand true its always been a apart of RPG games and then computer rpg games, and them mmorpg games. If you loath RNG you should find a more suitable genre to play (not saying BDO implementation of RNG is the best either).

    Never defended the implementation of RNG in BDO just that RNG is a core part of RPG gaming always has been. I think you made a good point and thats what I am trying to say no system will make everyone happy, so decide what systems you like or can tolerate and play those games. Don;t play games who's system you loathe. You know what you will get in BDO not sure why people been here 3 years straight bitching about it.

    You keep talking about D&D and how it created the basis for video-game RPG and MMORPG, and you're thinking this basis is not outdated?
    And you're making a heavy confusion : if RNG was a part of D&D, your entire experience was not purely based on random results. If you wanted to shoot an arrow, you may miss but you had better chances of success if you had some skills in archery. Your point was to reduce the chances of failures, you had a relative freedom to build your character and to face situations, and you knew when the odds were badly against you. But the goal of the players was NEVER to be simply playing with the RNG itself. It was only a way to "simulate the randomness of the world", not the basis for the game.

    The only kind of game where the real goal is the RNG is gambling.

    Funny to define RPG through RNG, and not through role playing (and progression, if I dare say it).

    And seriously... After so many years after the first Mmorpg, the many possibilities it opened, the previous games, some players are still thinking that putting a rewarding item behind pure luck is an 2020 mechanics?
    RNG as a variable, OK, but as the basis, no. If you can't even make the difference, you won't even understand the point of this discussion, and you shouldn't even dare to suggest us to stop playing this MMORPG.

    RNG is part of every game to add unpredictability, so diversity in framed game system, And well used RNG is always an excellent thing.
    But not to be the "there that and only that" and its all wild because it only do help our $$$$$ milking process.

    And the issue with BDO rng, is that its part of nothing that make something fun for a game as a game, at this point its not even "what system you can "tolerate"", the problem its, its not even a system that fit a game made to have fun.

    You can dislike X Y system ( or think it miss X Y things to be better ) in whatever game, yet most of others games systems are thought to be part of a game made for the players.
    Which is not even something BDO at least provide, well unless you are a ubber gambling addict.

    Also, by watching somes BDO stream, from the ones i"ve saw grinding the HP pot, i've saw NOT A SINGLE ONE saying they have a lot of fun grinding that, they was just counting the time they spent on it like you count minutes until the end of a bad day.
    Yet in general i've saw no one being entertained with grinding, but that's another topic ( but its kinda also a part of the issue )

    at this point BDO should be labeled as casino desguised as mmorpg, and in that case, sure, heavy rng for nothing and everything would sure match the "game"

    Imagine if the drop rate of these things were 1% on every mob on that area instead of 0.001% on 1 mob out of 10 in that area. People will get the potions so fast, they'll run out of things to do and complain of no content.

    O wait, that's BDO's content? grind for a 0.001% chance of getting the drop at certain mobs at certain areas? lol.

    It's funny how some % of people simply live to "protect?" random BS served to us each week with updates or via expansions.

    As for RNG being a thing .... imagine you need to drive a car but you only have X % chance your engine will start so you won't need to walk.
    Funny mechanics right? That is exactly what the potions, compas, etc. feels like, some things should be obtainable EZ as they mean to make life easier not to divide playerbase even further by PA's formula of "some ppl are just lucky"

    This issue isn't just the time frame. It alters the players normal hunting grounds for an extended period of time. It may put players in the "wrong hunting" areas for weeks+.

    There is also no denying how much of a major discrepancy there is between how long it takes each player to acquire these items. If it was done properly that wouldn't matter as much, however with the way it's poorly managed that matters a lot.

    I have said it before and I will repeat it here. These items should drop in an and all grind zones. The game devs can make it so that you will not get a drop if you are over levelled and over geared for the location. This would allow for normal grinding patterns and also allow players of all levels to have access to these desired items.

    The issue is a little more complicated then that, but for most of these "special items" yes. It's good to have areas like Crescents have a Ring that can only be obtained there. It provides a purpose for the area and when designed correctly can work. However, everything in BDO is janked up.

    Basilisks was one of the best examples. The WORST way to obtain a basilisk belt is to farm basilisk. The events totally wreck everything etc.

    These "ultra rare items" should be more universal though like you stated. I don't think there is a need to limit them via level/gear score though. The drop rate would be so low it would be pointless to farm them on lower areas with a high gear score.

    The higher areas should also have higher rates. They could tie in the already established valued from the bonus drops.

    A more precise example would be tier limits for these items. So you can't get a compass part unless you are clearing areas of 180+ for example.

    So I am just lucky for finishing 30000 quests in game.

    Items that allow you to achieve these things in game are earnt by playing the game. Just giving up "because it's too hard" or "I will never get it because I have bad RNG" is such a silly point of view. If you believe these statements you are playing the wrong game.

    He also makes a mistake by comparing his questing to the rng required in gaining these potion items. There is no dispute that people put a lot of time into the game and it is quite an achievement getting to that 30000 quests completed. I guess he also knows how it feels to be taking part in a ground hog day experience. However his thirty thousand quests has absolutely no relevance to the horrible rng in this game. There is zero rng in running all of the quests repeatedly with different alts. It is just a lot of effort that everyone can achieve with the same amount of effort. Sadly the rng nature of these potion drops means that some people get them easily with very little time or effort expended whereas others will still not have them after countless hours.

    WARNING : big wall of text to express my view and experience here. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    Effort =/= Luck
    Effort =/= P2W
    RNG =/= Progression

    Actually me personally after struggling to reach full TET and watch my guild mates get 2 Vells dropped each in one month and hitting PENs on like 56 FSes and I'm struggling to TET a freaking Dandy with a 90 FS, I left the game.

    Do you want to know why I left the game? Because my efforts was never being rewarded. I was forced to grind the same boring content day in and day out with little to no progress. While others around me got their steep progress handed to them on a silver plate. You know what I don't want instant gratification but I want to make progress for my efforts. If the game is not going to reward me anything then what's the point?

    ESO and GW2 used to be the same way as BDO. But they abandon such outdated principals of gating rewards and content behind dumb luck. And started to introduce reasonable ways to go around the RNG gates without having to go to the cash shop. The Koreans decided to move in the opposite direction.

    Take a wild guess which type of MMO is able to hold mines, and the majority of MMO gamers attention for 20 to 50 hours a week. Even tho we are walking around with the best end game gear they have to offer? Progression in a game doesn't have to only come in one form. A single MMO like popular Western MMOs have many different lines of progression to hold their gamers attention even after the gear grind is over.... IE. Mechanical Skill gear to complete harder content for titles, skins, and dyes. Achievements that are hard to earn but offers a badge of accomplishment. Fashion Progression through in game means without cash shop reliance. There are many other ways superior ways to keep the player base coming back wanting more outside of gating everything behind dumb luck that you can circumvent with enough spending in the cash shop. I'm just saying is all.

    I'm not here to bash on BDO or anything. But the general consensus speaks loud for itself. By consensus I mean the gaming community at large and not just fanbois that crutch on P2W RNG Grinders to be something. I guess too each their own.

    That's why things are overpriced in the Korean Games cash shops. And Cash Shop are what Korean games are built in mind around, not having a cash shop to supplement the game. Because in-order for them to be profitable in-spite of having so few population. They need to have the must gamer unfriendly business model to stay afloat and cater to "Whales" and have the rest as food for the Whales ego.

    Back in the old ages yeah. But time moves on and principals become outdated and need to be replaced of updated. But that okay because you are playing a game with outdated principals that are niche. You'll have to contend with a unfriendly overpriced business model.

    RNG is no longer a core part of the current popular and highly acclaimed RPGs. You are living in the 1980s man.

    Honestly like Pearl Abyss you should be happy that people are posting their grievances. Instead of just simply leaving. Least you want BDO to end up like Perfect World, Forsaken World, Skyforge, Tera, Blade and Soul, and all the other Korean MMOs only being held up by few hundred players and some Whales. But after logging into BDO today and spending 15 minutes to look around. BDO is surely following the trend those other Korean games.

    Trying to change BDO fanatics mind's that their game is a scam is like trying to tell Trump supporters Trump is a scam lol. No matter what BDO does, BDO fanatics will still play their game. And if you don't like it, you can always go back to w/e MMO you came from.

    What an absolutely awful example... In D&D you have a game master with total control of the game systems. A good GM knows how to tweak the odds and sometimes even fake a successfull dice roll if it means the difference between the campaign ending right then and there or the party just barely managing to achieve a clutch victory.

    D&D is all about having a fun experience with friends which is hard to say for BDO.
