The game has 3 dungeons? One in Mediah and two in Valencia as far I remember.
We have Helms Dungeon, Pila Ku Jail, Aakman and Hystria... Indeed i would have liked to see Bosses like Gatekeeper at those places but we have dungeon.
They are just not instanced how it should be.
But there are dungeons. Some bigger, some smaller.
the one in the desert isnt a dungeon
Dungeon > Group with the trinity > Getting further inside with objectifs and story, a few small boss > End of the dungeon, End Boss that drop GEAR
That what a dungeon is in a MMO, these "dungeon" in BDO are just other grind area, not a party objectif to gear yourself
Guess you never played mmorpgs which are older then wow.
a Dungeon is simply a big underground area or something similar.
One of my favorite old mmorpgs was dragon raja,there was no bosses in dungeons just dungeons,there was elites like in helm dungeon,but no real bosses,many games i have played have been the same,just because wow personified what a themepark mmo is does not mean every mmo is supposed to be like wow.
i don't want themepark. i want bdo.
Thats whats usually placed in fantasy RPG dungeons but whats usually in or not does not decide what it is.
Its not like Molten Core stopped being a dungeon just because I single swiped it with a lvl80 Paladin for a sword for transmog gear (to name a traditional example).
They are there since Calpheon/Serendia... Just we already overleveled them...

I finally got my sandbox non instanced mmo i always wanted, and as far i know, that there is mostly open world its the only thing that is actually making this mmo better than others nowdays, and being lesss p2w

3 instanced dungeons *albeit 2 are the same but different difficulty*
Because. The game is a "PvP" game.
As long as the dungeons wouldnt be mandatory, "as much interesting" regarding reward than the open world.
So as long as ppl would be able to choose what they want to do ( stick open world or spam dungeon ) actualy their wouldnt be any issue
There are dungeons in the game lol,. its called Aakman and Hystria, and to some extent the bottom of Helms.
Those 3 locations not for the weak though, but they do give some decent amount of silver and exp (Helms good for up to 57).
No its not. This is a semi- sandbox with pvp toggle button. You get zero progression by just pking alone.
dungeons doesnt necessarily mean instanced even in themepark mmos, it doesnt mean they need to have bosses either.
Yet all of the so called "dungeons" in bdo cant really be considered dungeons, they are just underground grinding areas with literally no difference to every other grinding area other than the types of enemies (and sometimes not even that).
what makes a dungeon in an mmo is a limited area, instanced or not, that requires either teamwork, strategy, varying different mechanics or puzzles, or a lot of preparation time to "beat" through it, which is usually rewarded accordingly in the end. Also you usually cant just start or leave anywhere in the middle of it where you want.
savage rift can absolutely be considered a dungeon even in the sense of a classical themepark mmo, aakman, hystria or any other grinding area are not.
PKING in this game is more about who has the biggest e-dicc and the virtual prestige, and this feature has been always very important on MMO history
