everything will become irrelevant as time goes.
It's ok, Catastigma helped you out by posting right below.
The server unreliability is really bad, very few if any people actually knows how much of it's ISP vs. server but the server affects casual things as well as the more fascinating things. Mainly playing this game for PvP my experience took a hit when the servers which were never great for me to begin with started becoming even worse and my computer lately is having difficulty keeping constantly good frames unlike before- which does affect PvP. Some people have really good connections or gaming experience, (with or without the computer) and some just aren't aware of it.
They do try to fix things, but they do it too slow or in the wrong way because they're focused on things- apparently- such as 'siege data' on classes as a way to balance. Some of the things recently are in the right directions- buffs to other regions for grinding. 2nd awakening to make non-awakening better, but you're damn right about the costumes. They are expensive.
If this game becomes irrelevant it'll probably be due to server unreliability, past that I'm not sure anything predictable could make it irrelevant, just like World of Warcraft. Despite some huge hits in numbers WoW still persists, as do other games and MMORPGs. Your last part contains the answer, people will continue being people, and we keep clutching to mediocre options and games and we point fingers at other games and say "that's not as good a game, so this game is good, is that good comparison and reasoning?" while scratching our chins
Also a demystified position, when you're new to a game and learning it, it's easier to be immersed and in awe.
And until neuroscience is not called anymore to build this unethical economic models, inspired mainly by casinos.
It's easy to blame people when everything is done to trick them in the first place, from dopamine triggering stimuli to the conscious organisation of frustration at a larger scale, from exploitation of fear of loss and abandon, and such other anxiogen levers, to the confrontation of hidden paywalls and gambling sub monetisation system once the affective link has been set, or other client capture strategies (attendance rewards and such ...).
Yet thank to whales we get free expansions, while other games pay monthly sub and then are also charged for expansion (**** you wow, **** you eso)
For the record. At least one developer out of the two games mentioned is approachable, has answered almost all questions directly and has been a gamer with a ton of employees that had worked on reputable western MMORPGs in the past that gave us that satisfaction we so desperately need.
Not only has he been a gamer but has the mindset and leadership to attain what the image he aims to project for us.
You don't know that, neither do I, but sure as hell can say that I'm more lenient with people who engage with their community actively (especially the head dev himself/herself) than the comparison of BDO. All things considered.
My friend said the exact same thing about the Witcher series. He ate his own words.
Subjectively, with the observation of how and where the "Steve" plans on taking the game....I believe it'll be more different and moderately better.
P.S. - I have high hopes for Ashes of Creation. Many people do. There's little "HYPE" and more "HOPE" that this doesn't turn out to become a flop or what you pessimistically stated.
Even Kakao developers were like that. Every developer is like that when he wants to sell his product, that's why people were so hyped with BDO at the beginning.
"Daum isn't Nexon nor any other company, they listen to us, they actually talk to us."
Didn't you read how BDO should've been in the interview made 4 years ago? I'm not saying you're all dumb, what i mean is simply that: hyping games based on their exoskeleton, be because the developers are co-operative or be for the functions that the game has, isn't healthy for the MMORPG industry.
That's also the phase where if a developer doesn't answer directly to your general questions but only to a certain degree such "Yes we will have stables where you can park your horses, donkeys, camels, elephants, deers, battlewolves and rhynos, but of course, different kind of mounts require different kind of stables", the majority of fanbase digress accepting even general answers.
It's like when you're dating someone, the first month is wonderful, she's beautiful, you're perfect, she's perfect and everything is so damn good that both of you are doing anything to make the other feel beloved and good, because it makes you feel good.
"No, we don't plan an invasive cash shop system, sure we'll put some items here and there for convenience that we're discussing about, but most likely we'll grant an enjoyable experience to each user, to the ones willing to spend some real dime 'till the ones that want to earn everything through the game"
Yes, sure, what kind of "convenience" items are you talking about? why nowadays even developers uses the term "convenience" to shift the perspective of players?
I'm not sure if you've seen the endless discussions about P2W vs P4Convenience, but they're absolutely stupid. If an item is there in the cash shop for convenience, it gives you an edge above the non-paying user. P2W or P4Convenience are just terms invented and supported by fans or haters of the game, but the fact is this one.
Cosmetic items change the appeareance of your character, convenience items alter to a certain degree your in-game quality of life. If there was no convenience, they would be pointless and not sold at all.
You can have all the hopes you wish and i'm really glad for you if you do, no jokes, but as long there will be this kind of blind hype we'll have thousand of Black Desert Online promising something and delivering something else, with their respective circlejerks of Hooligans and Hipster haters like in this one.
And i'm not naive to think that every game can run like PoE, but certainly that game is a good example of a cash shop made in order to gain and satisfy the customer.
Some more items there wouldn't be game breaking for sure, so we should be able at least to tell our opinion about what we would like to see in a cash shop or not before they're introduced but not just at the beginning, it should always be like that.
Speaking for myself and myself only, I'll be going to Monster Hunter World once it comes out to PC.
"I am suppose to spend 30 dollars on a outfit???"
Spotted someone who never spent money in a mmorpg game that originated from japan or korea before.
That's just how things are. Full costume costs you 30-40 €, a pet around 10-15 € and a mount min. 20 €
Lies and "Unfair Commercial Practices" did many damages in the past. They said b2p without subscription or p2w, but they think this means "in 1st month". Than they sold subscription (VP), and we got p2w microtransaction pearl shop system. BUt the the 1st 3-4 months were nice. We had an illusion to get good game with minimal and "hidden" p2w (or not p2w) and CMs-publishers read our opinions and feedbacks and change the game to be better. Than they drop RM item trade option to the BDO and we lost the trust in the Company.
BDO is good/not bad game. 10-15 dollars/euros to buy it is not a high price. Maybe subscription is not bad too... But p2w elements and lies are not acceptables. If we buy subscription or we buy game (b2p) we expect to get fair game and not typical korean sloth machine.
BDO will be "Irrelevant" because of this predatory tactic of Publisher... and because of punishing forced gamble enchant... and not enough real good small-medium sized group objectives...
+here is the interview before we spent that preorder 50-100 euros.
It really wont though. Just because a few ppl dont like what they do or think something is p2w (its not), doesnt mean anything. This forum doesnt represent anybody. In fact, ppl DONT Look at THIS forum because of all the nay sayers and negative nancys here. The game is doing fine and PA/Kakao are actually trying to work on themselves, hidden stats revealed was a big step already.
Hidden stats reveated. It's nice. Hiding things is cancer. IDK why devs did this in default. But this is small step. They fixed only some mistakes of the past. And we don't see many other "hidden stats" like chance of "win" in enchant gamble. And the game is p2w now. This is the smaller problem. The main issue is/was: they sold this game for preorder users as other business model. We bought b2p game and we got b2p game with subscription and RM microtransaction system. You can say "this is not p2w", but this items are not "vanity items" in cash shop. It gives advantage vs in game farmed items = it's not ok in subscription-b2p model. W paid the cost of implementation in our region(s) to get not p2w-pay2convenience game and we tested the game, we helped the Company, than Kakao changed the rules and the business modell after some months. I paid many RM in games to worst companies too and I never want my money back. Because I buy something and I got same service. Kakao sold Ferrari and it delivered Trabant.Or they sold basic Ferrari, but you can buy "extras... like wheels, doors, seats, engine...
Again its not p2w just because some negative nancys say it, or you. Plenty of games have stuff like a value pack its not a big deal get over it already. IF you feel that way just stop playing then, easy. Seriously. Why even keep wasting your time if you hate the company so much running it.
I payd to get that "basic" service and I use it when I want it. The game has many nice elements. Missed opportunity in the greed of blind stupid company hurts. The game is playable. After 1-2 years of "beta" testing...
Buy something is not available in game +this item/service offer ADVANTAGES vs non RM item users = p2w for me. 28k pets vs 2-5 millions of users or 1-10k costumes vs 2-5 millions of users is not "you can farm/buy it in game" category. Convert RM to in game currency is p2w. "It's expensive" argument will not change it. And you can convert RM to silver: you can sell RM costumes OR you can spend RM to consume less in game money in enchant. That 750k silvers/4% vs 3 000 000 silvers/4% is typical p2w. The size of **** is irrelevant. The stink will be the same.
YOu clearly are bad at this then or just have a very weird look at this game. You have the wonderful option to not pay a dime and get full TRI/TET gear without their trap of Artisan Memories. You can make enough money to fund all that by just fishing, cooking and other stuff. You are just hell bent on trying to get your point across, which is wrong.
You don't have to spend extra on a speed pass at Busch gardens or Disney world, you can just wait in line with everyone else, but when money doesn't mean anything because you have so much of it, it would just be weird to wait in line when you don't have too.
Kakao " look , they say the game is not P2W...its cool P2W games are bad... u think we can push artisant memory to +5? its just a number after all.. numbers are not pay to win..."
stfu now u can go for pen just 4x faster
This is MMO game. You spend many time in this world. Many "Nolifers" want to be in top. If you spend many time in something you want to be the best... or in the top group. RM trades and "pay to get advantage" items infect the host and make it sick. Average users (who bought B2P game instead of average korean MMO with "near-p2w microtransaction system") will see "cash power" everywhere. You don't have to think big things like BiS best weapon in region. Just little thing: many trash drop = buy more space icon. Many items in short time in farming same spot = buy weight icon. You can buy extra service and be viable in marketplace. You can'T see the name of target in PvP. You have to spend double-triple time to do same things and time = money in this game too. You have to sell your horses to gamble other horses while you see the RM counter reset and reroll options. You see screenshots about 192 invenory and storage slots without any used houses in cities. You can see insane amount of workers (+39 free worker in cash spending mode). Oh, this is not p2w, but you feel something is wrong in your "no p2w, no subscription, you buy it and you can use it without any investments" system.
Yo will not feel the "competitive game" after this "small" advantages. How can you be Top-cook-girl while others can cook in cash shop mode 2x more in same time? BUY-BUY-BUY! You pay or you don't care and you doN't want to be "competitive". No competition = the game will be "irrelevant". You play sometimes 1-2 hours, but you will leave the game. Or most of the players will do this. (2-5 millions of accounts sold and how many palyers are active now???)
It's not "thanks to whales", we get free expansions. Whales are a tiny minority in mmorpgs. Most guys aren't willing to pay insane amounts of money on video games. All microtransactions generated by average users/spenders generates a lot more revenue for Kakao, than a small percentage of whales.
Current Pearl shop items and prices wouldn't be sustainable, if people also had to pay €29.99 or whatever for DLC's. This model is more profitable and practical for Kakao, that's why they use it. Not because they're so generous letting us play for free.
ESO doesn't charge for subscription AND expansions&DLC's. You only need one of them. If you buy ESO plus, you get access to everything. If you buy all DLC's, you don't need ESO plus. The perks are mostly fluff and borderline useless for veteran players.
In WoW you can buy a subscription using in-game gold, so you don't have to pay monthly with real money. But yeah, you do have to pay for the newest expansion, unless willing to wait until it's part of the base game.
All games have pro's and con's in terms of having to pay for stuff.
LOL ok buying artisan memories doesnt make pen go faster. Do you know this thing called RNG? Doesnt go away if you buy artisans. How about you stfu?
So I cant be competetive unless I spend moneyo n the game? Are you actually retarded? And the servers are plenty crowded. Im not sure how you can say that even. The game is doing fine and again, the majority doesnt say anything because THEY DONT CARE and dont see this anywhere as p2w or anything unlike you negative people. calm down.
