What's the current state of the game? Heard somewhere it's dying/there's a sequel coming?

How solo friendly is it and will I enjoy it if I'm not a fan of PvP and I'm generally more casual?

How many hours could you even get from it?How much content is there?

Is it worth getting into?I've heard mixed opinions.

    Is it fully P2W?

Are there any slower classes?I'm a physically disabled gamer and my reaction aren't as fast as they should be, I wonder what class would be good for me, and in general, do you think the game has any activities I could manage?

Depends what you want from game, there is kinda some story, probably for like ~10h of game play. If you want just grind monsters - well, there is plenty of channels, but in prime time find free "top spot" kinda complicated i think ( end game income mostly come from afk non fighting activity) Game is basically "COOP", there is no party content beside pvp.
PVP is gear based, you can buy it via "P2W" ( not really coz its like buy a fcknig house converted to real money, but "not very in game " players keep call it p2w) or via ingame methods.

We are still waiting for O'dyllita ( new expansion ) for more than a year , now. And the BDO team keep creating useless content that no one asked about , like the Papu VS Otters war. zzz

The game is very solo friendly. PVP is pay-to-win so don't bother with that. But , there is not much PVE content. This game is grind-based. Quests are nice until you reach Lv.60 tho.

In my opinion , no. Better playing a solo RPG game or a western MMO like WoW or FF14. If you want a Korean MMO , TERA is old but still good.

Probably the most P2W MMO i ever seen. But you'll not notice that until your reach Lv.60 , and then you'll start noticing weight & inventory issues. You'll have to buy pets to pick up the loot for you.
PVP is full P2W , the biggest whales are king in this game.
You can sell cash-shop costumes to the marketplace , to get a massive amount of in-game silvers. Whales are selling dozens of costumes per week to buy the best gear ( PEN gear ). PEN gear is very very difficult to get , it's very expensive ( several months of grinding for one ) , very difficult to enhance ( 3% with 100 failstacks )
All castles owners guilds are filled with full PEN whales

Plenty of classes are perfect for you : Wizard / Witch / Lahn / Warrior succession / Ranger succession / Archer

I treat this as an $80 ish game spend $5 on it, spend $50 on pets $20 on two maids and $5 extra, you don't need to buy weight since you can just stack it on your horse or whatever, a valuepacks nice and all but you can just wait every 15 days for a 1 day to sell stuff, I don't think the game is unplayable without paying, some people just don't want to put as much effort as others and waste their money on this dumb game.

    No and not directly.
The game is still far away from dying, it is actually doing pretty well and has stable player numbers.
Crimson Desert is probably the game you are referring to as "sequel", but it is a completly different game and has not much to do with bdo.

Let me name you one of my first and still favorite mmos: Hellgate Global.
Never seen something THAT p2w. Extra gear slots for pure premium gear that increase your stats. You can't equip best armor/weapons without those extra stats...it's literally impossible. You can buy and sell premium items for ingame currency. Every item past +5 enhancement will get destroyed 100% if the enhancement fails, only a premium item can stop that (chances are similar to bdo +0 to +15) and much more.
Way more p2w than bdo imo.

With the current discount on the game, and because the game has big afk aspects to it, the game is going pretty strong right now, even if servers are not loaded (EU).

This is soloest MMO I ever played, don't be worry about that. But you will get killed eventually, after you reached the Lv.50. Not a big deal tho, this won't happen to much once you'll grasp how things works PvE wise. No penalty for PvP death also, just a bit of a waste of time.

I'd say it's worth the shot tho, given the ratio (hours played)/€. There's definitively loads of things to do.

It is p2w. People have said to me before that the game was playable without spending money and it's technicaly true. But my advice on this would be to treat the game as if it have a subscription by spending a small amount of money every month.

Witch and Wizard are cool classes with one to three seconds between every skills because of cast time and/or overall slower skill speed. I have both char to 61 and I'd recommend witch (lots of blocks and more long ranged after 56).

If you're here to stay, welcome.

Think my top worst to date is PWI. Direct purchase of materials that get you gear that wasn't in-game. You had to have the ring first, which alone was $900. Each gear piece was 4-600. Then there were 4 gem slots to each gear. The BiS gems could be bought in game for around 150 million plat, which inflated to 500 plat due to demand. 100 million was roughly 100 USD. Then the accessories, were a few hundred. They had these scrolls you put on that rejuvenated HP when below 50%. For $5 bucks you got 5 million HP scrolls. If you were a tank class, you had nearly 100K HP- so in one night during Territory wars, a tank could easily burn through 5 or better scrolls.

To compare how powerful this gear was, All +15 BDO against a Full PEN would be a close conservative guess. I know my Seeker could use a basic attack and one-shot a casual f2p person. I was among the first to cash-shop to the highest tier, and could one shot an entire faction of 40+ players at their spawn point in TWs.

We collectively destroyed the OwPvP content.

Here, PA did better. People will flee immediately this kind of business. However, BDO is more sneaky and use your own weaknesses to maintain their grasp on you. Something like a casino online. A pay to TRY. Not even win. Just TRY. This subtlety makes this game way far more lucrative than your oblivious game "hellgate". No offense.
BDO just traps people in front of a beautiful slotmachine where you buy "chips" in using "cron stone". But there is ton of others "features" using this pattern in this game.

BDO is less P2W than others game because you pay to try. So, it's worse than any other game because you are not even sure to win. It's better to go at Las Vegas, at least you go out.

    Right, thanks for your help.
Guess I shouldn't bother then...Shame, because I honestly can't stand playing WoW anymore, and everyone seems to keep suggesting it(Not specifically here).
    Right, thanks.
Ah, so it's not a sequel.
Most people seem to be saying I shouldn't bother playing it, but it's been tempting me for years...Especially now with the price, so...I'm not sure.
    Again?

    The game is not dead.
The game has hundreds of hours of content depending on your play style. If you rush to end game and then find you do not like end game it may be less than hundreds. If you like to quest explore and do lifeskill activities you will get your money's worth.
The game is very solo friendly to the extent that many people view bdo as a single player game in an online world.
The world has open world pvp after level fifty but in most cases you can avoid it. Nothing you do however will stop the few pk players that will kill you while you are unaware they are even there. They will attack you as you ride or run from A to B, they will attack you while you tend your farms which can only be placed in unsafe areas. You can choose to fight back or you can escape and swap servers so it is not as horrible as it sounds but it is terribly frustrating when it happens.
The game is pay to win but a new player can enjoy the game without spending very much extra on the game. You will now receive three free pets from finishing the story quests in the three first regions, Serendia, Calpheon and Mediah. You will also be given a few other pearl items for levelling. In my opinion you may need to buy a few more pets because as disabled player you will find it hard to keep looting for yourself ( yes the pets loot for you). You may also like to buy a costume because most of the armour in game looks terrible, especially the so called special boss gear. The costumes also give a small pay to win advantage. There is a value pack that cost fifteen dollars per month that gives you extra weight, extra inventory both personal and storage, plus you get extra xp and the free use if changing your appearance and dying you clothes. The value pack also allows you to receive more silver when selling items on the central market.
As a person with a shoulder problem that stops me using a mouse and keyboard I play with an Xbox controller. This has allowed me to play all classes if I wanted but I find lahn very easy to play, witch and wizard are also new player friendly but I do not really like them that much.

Funnily enough, despite all the p2w that game has, it had tons of players and it imo still a way better game than bdo, eso or gw2.

agree to that, and its always interesting to see that ppl dont see that and totaly fall for that.

I will add that nowdays BDO is totaly p2w with all the cron / costum melting, it even more sneakyly ensure you the success, but at a WAYYYYYY higher price

( also, yeah obvious p2w game would never succeed nowdays, well, at least here )

Well I'm an idiot....That should answer most of my questions! Thanks.
I'm currently downloading the trial so I'll know if I enjoy it soon enough! Thanks for your help, sounds like I should definitely find something to do. And the pets would definitely help.

Hmmm sounds like might the kinda game you are looking for. There is crimson desert being worked on (announced recently) but we need more infos about it still, and thus far sounds a lot like a console focused different sort of game.

It is a rather awesome game and much more to it than last generation mmos. Regarding your last question about activities, it has a great deal of different things to do, like with life skilling (which is also worthwhile/profitable to do) which are generally laid back gameplay. There is a huge amount of content in the game, the only downside to that being the time you need put in to learn/discover about things, it doesn't hold you hand you will need hit up google lots (but also bear in mind changes over time re: date of info you read).

I played this game for +3 years. If you are new it is worth giving it a good try, but be sure to spend wisely and do not expect to do the higher level content anytime soon.

Best advice I can give you is to limit your spending to $15/month and be happy with what/where that get's you.

The main thing I dislike is you are forced to get the value pack either by using real money OR get lucky on the market.

Unless you like losing a good chunk of silver when selling items on the market. Besides that I find the game fun to play.

One way to do it is to wait for the loyalties pts and get the 1day value pack twice a month.
